Tuning enthusiasts have launched a lightweight performance (Lightweight Performance) LW M2 convertible. The lightweight performance modification cost approximately 75,000 euros to turn the prototype into an M2 convertible. Compared with the M2 Coupe starting price of 59,900 euros, and the M240i convertible in Germany is priced at 54,300 euros, this modification is not a big budget.
This LW M2 convertible features 21-inch rear wheels (305/25), Bilstein Clubsport suspension, real carbon fiber inside and out, perforated Alcantara, carbon fiber exhaust trim, titanium mufflers and 300-bore buck pipes. According to Lightweight Performance, the N55 engine produces 428 PS (422 horsepower) and 600 Nm (443 pound-feet) of torque, with a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
The car comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of a manual. Other modifications to the car include Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, a carbon fiber hood, ABS, DSC and differential software from the M4 GTS, and the braking system uses Endless brake pads and braided brake lines.
Naturally, longitudinal dynamics are key to the victory over the stronger and lighter M2 CS. So the Lightweight Performance M2 was upgraded with a Bilstein Clubsport coilover and plenty of carbon fiber. For example, the bonnet, front spoiler, rear diffuser, rear spoiler and many other details are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
There is also a wheel upgrade, 20-inch models in the front and 21-inch with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 in the rear.
